Playdate

Harper was invited over to a friends house on Sunday so of course I brought my camera along.  Nothing fancy.. just snapped some shots of the girls (Ava, Bella, Bree and Harper) hanging out.  Of course since I can take pictures of Harper anytime... I focused on the other adorable little girls.

Nashville

This past weekend the family and I headed up north to Nashville for a family wedding.  It has been a very long time since I was in Nashville and I forgot what a neat town it was.  We arrived late Friday afternoon... enough time to walk around for about an hour or so before we were expected at the Family hospitality suite to meet up with Hank's extended family.  We have not seen a lot of these people in 10+ years.  It was nice to see everyone.  Matthew, Natalie and Harper got to meet lots of Great Aunts, Great Uncles, First and Second Cousins.  They just smiled and said hello not really knowing how much meeting them for the first time meant to Hank and I.  The kids stayed with a babysitter (btw... if anyone ever needs a babysitter while in Nashville, I have a GREAT girl) that night so that Hank and I could meet up with the family again and actually be able to talk to everyone.  We headed over to Mulligans (an Irish pub) and enjoyed the night.  On Saturday we decided to check out the town before the wedding.  I feel like I am constantly in photography mode as I was continuously spotting neat places to take pictures.  One can only take so many pictures of family though.  One of these days I plan on heading back with some sessions scheduled so I can take advantage of everything Nashville has to offer.  Then came time to get ready for the Wedding.  Natalie was sooo excited to put on her "princess" dress.  She asked me about 50 times throughout the day, "how long till I get to put on my pretty dress?"  The kids were so excited as this was their first wedding.  Natalie didn't want to tell us at first but she finally spit it out that her favorite part was when they kissed.  She is too cute.  The kids unfortunately did not get to attend the reception.  (sad, as I would have loved to danced with my kids)... next time I guess.  So Sunday came and we had to head out early due to other commitments back in Birmingham.  Dear Nashville, we will be back soon!  So... here are just a few of the shots that I took while there....

Hank looks like he is about to bust out laughing???

Harper - Moss Rock Preserve

This past Tuesday I was going to meet up with a new mommy group called Parks, Pools and Playdates.  The orginal plan was to meet at the Moss Rock Preserve and go for a hike.  This plan was changed and the group met somewhere else but I decided to take Harper to Moss Rock anyway because I love it.  We put on her new outfit from Matilda Jane that she loves... she grabs it out of the dryer and puts it on everytime she sees it.  That dress and any pair of PJ's are her favorite!  Anyway... Harper and I hiked over to the large rocks and started having fun.  Of course I wanted some shots with her not running away from the camera so I had to bribe her with skittles and lollipops.  It worked... she would come to me and get a skittle and then walk back over to the rocks and play while smiling for a minute and then walk back over to me and ask for another skittle.  She cracks me up!  So... here are some shots of our time at Moss Rock.  I love the Hat in the last picture but Harper will not keep it on.. that is UNLESS I have skittles in my hand.  :)

Saturday Afternoon

This past weekend the kids and I headed up to their elementary school to play around... on the playground equipment and with the camera.  I had always known about a little barn and house in the back of their school but never realized it was a part of history.  The Bluff Park Folklore Center is a an actual house from the 1840's that was relocated to the grounds of the Bluff Park Elementary school to help teach children how our grandparents lived.  If you would like to read more about it you can check out this link...
My intention was to check out the property and find some good spots to snap some photos.  Of course... as soon as the kids realized there was playground equipment nearby, I lost their attention.  The kids love to say that they will be my little models but their attention span is very limited when I actually start snapping their photos.  With this being said.. here are a couple of pictures from our visit to the Bluff Park Folklore Center AND the nearby playground equipment.  :)
